We are so proud of the work Melinated Moms has been able to create! What started as a small hangout group on Meetup, we’ve seen how to translate community engagement, advocacy and empowerment into the organization that you see today. With an estimated 6000 members worldwide we are able to say that we have left our mark in Black history and we want to brag a little bit.

How we made our mark

Starting in 2017, our goals were small but mighty. Our mission started as a community resource and social group for moms of color, we have evolved into the strong mission and vision of providing resources, empowerment and an all around safe space for our moms and women to thrive and not just survive the intersections of motherhood, womanhood and sisterhood. Though the pandemic has brought so much uncertainty, it has also created a space for new growth, opportunities, and ventures even for Melinated Moms. We were able to extend our outreach during the pandemic. People we wouldn’t have even imagined being in our space from across the globe know about Melinated Moms.  We were on the news! Jaye was on PIX11 being unapologetically her. We contributed our opinion on the Maternal Health Day of Action and our thoughts from Vice President Kamala Harris’ address on the importance of taking action for Melinated Moms across the nation.  Nurture NJ is one of our most dear partners in Health Equity. Melinated Moms along side the New Jersey state government and many other organization were able to develop a strategic plan that would increase health outcomes amongst pregnant Black women.  We have more visibility in the public health space through our partnership with Black Ladies in Public Health. As we grow they grow as well and we are proud to see the support we both give each other as women of color. Throughout our years of being an organization, we have been able to have a combination of more than 100 partnerships between both private and public sectors. Alongside our partnerships, our funding has increased which has enabled us the ability to build the capacity as a company.
